It's Happening Here!
The big event each year in Sparks is the Hometowne Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. Starting on one of the first nights in December is the Christmas Tree lighting, a beautiful live evergreen in Victorian Square is draped in hundreds of points of light, bows, and lit gift decor. The following morning is the parade, which turns out thousands or even ten thousand Sparks residents. All manner of organizations dress up, decorate floats, and walk in the parade.
This is a judged event, with the winners best interpreting the year's theme.
The Hometowne Parade is consistently winning awards, in 2019 it placed 6th in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice travel awards. Get this year’s information and schedule here.
